Linden Birns has more than 30 years of experience in reputation management, communications strategy and campaign direction, public affairs, journalism and news media production.
As a former journalist – Linden has worked in TV and radio and for newspapers and magazines – he combines a well-honed sense of curiosity, lateral thinking and an analytical approach to make sense of and contextualise industry and broader developments in order to inform and guide advocacy, lobbying, marketing, sales, customer and stakeholder campaigns.
Similarly, Linden’s people skills have enabled him to become a consummate networker, gatherer of intelligence and communicator.
Linden applies his sound understanding of the ever-evolving news media and how it functions, when preparing clients to tell their stories, convey their messages, position their brands, promote their offerings and defend their reputations.
All of these skills, developed over three decades in the media and public relations, have enabled Linden to help clients understand the expectations of their various audiences and navigate the political, regulatory, social, economic, sectoral and competitive environments that characterise the markets in which they operate.
Through his consultancy, Plane Talking, and associates, Linden has worked with clients on almost every continent. His work has included campaigns to support multi-billion dollar aircraft programmes, fleet procurements, marketing communications, advocacy programmes, aeropolitical affairs, government, industry and customer relations, mergers & acquisitions, natural disasters, air accidents, financial and governance crises, tourism and trade development, research & technology and corporate social outreach.
Through his work in crisis communications, Linden has worked extensively training and guiding leaders of airlines, aircraft operators, airports, aircraft manufacturers, industry associations, law enforcement agencies and governments.
