Bronwen Auret is a tourism executive, destination marketer, and aviation connectivity advocate with more than two decades of experience shaping South Africa’s tourism landscape.
As Chief Quality Assurance Officer at South African Tourism, she leads the national quality assurance and visitor experience portfolio, overseeing the Tourism Grading Council of South Africa (TGCSA), Visitor Experience, Brand Experience, and Global Trade initiatives. Her work focuses on strengthening destination competitiveness, enhancing traveller confidence, and driving sustainable tourism growth through innovation, quality assurance, and strategic partnerships.
Bronwen plays a strategic leadership role in South Africa’s Tourism Route Development Marketing Programme (TRDMP), a national initiative aimed at strengthening air connectivity, stimulating tourism demand, and supporting sustainable route development into South Africa. Through collaboration with airlines, airports, tourism authorities, and trade partners, the programme seeks to expand market access and improve global connectivity to the destination.
A passionate advocate for quality-led tourism growth, Bronwen believes destination competitiveness must be underpinned by exceptional visitor experiences, sustainability, inclusivity, and strong trade partnerships. She has championed innovations in tourism grading systems, digital transformation, and customer experience strategies that position South Africa as a globally competitive and trusted destination.
Prior to her current role, Bronwen served as Acting Chief Marketing Officer and General Manager: Brand & Marketing at South African Tourism, leading integrated global marketing and destination positioning strategies.
